Google sites is an easy to use drag and drop builder. Adding and changing images is as simple as drag and place or click and delete. You can add images by dragging and dropping them from your desktop or computer to your Google site or replacing the image placeholder.
TIP: Keep the image file size low as it will allow your site to run faster.
To add an image:

On the right, click Insert and then Images.
Choose where to get your image.
Choose an image and click Open or Select.

Upload (You can upload images from your drive or your PC)
Keep in mind this will also crop your imported image to the size of the image that was included.

Point to a section on the page. Then, at the left, click Background Color.
Choose a style or add a photo.
Upload - Will allow you to upload an image from your device.
Select - Will allow you to select an image on your google drive.
Tip: Make sure the background is set to 1200px by 800px max.
