To set up your shop, you'll need to connect your cart software. I recommend PayPal Smart Buttons, Stripe Payment Links or Shopify Lite, Store.Link for your products. You can also create an ecommerce shop with Sellfy and embed it inside of your google site using the full page embed option. Or link to your Etsy Shop or any other marketplace where you sell your products.
If you're using Shopify Lite you may instead use an embed code to embed your Shopify Buy Button directly onto this page. You can embed any payment button from third parties such as Square.
Adding the links are the same process as adding any link to your site or changing links in your buttons. To change a button link double click on the button > Change the name if applicable > add the link to the payment system under "link". Done!
If you would like to add a newsletter link you may do so with any newsletter provider including Mailchimp, Flodesk, Mailerlite, and more - view the tutorial here.
You can add your newsletter service via Mailchimp, Mailerlite, or Flodesk or any other services provider. For Designs that feature a Newsletter example: The newsletter feature is not linked and is simple HTML code. If you do not have a service provider I recommend Flodesk. If you want to use Google Sheets as the service I have a video and blog instructions here: Create a Subscription Form Sign Up For Google Sites. You may also follow the instructions below.
Congratulations on your new Laid by Lema template! To give you a luxury shopping experience without the monthly $40+ Shopify bill, this design utilizes Store.link.
What is Store.link?
Store.link is a clever tool that turns a simple Google Sheet into a professional e-commerce storefront. There is no complicated backend to learn. If you can type in a spreadsheet, you can manage your shop.
Your shop inventory lives in a Google Sheet. When you change a price, add a new bundle, or update a photo in your Sheet, it automatically updates on your website.
Visit Store.link and sign in using the same Google account you used for your Laid by Lema website.
Select "Create a New Store."
You will be prompted to choose a Google Sheet. (Your template purchase includes a pre-formatted Mali Inventory Sheet—select that one!)
Open your Google Sheet. You will see columns for:
Product Name: (e.g., Raw North Indian Bundles)
Description: (Use the "Mali Standard" descriptions we provided!)
Price: Your mid-to-luxury investment points.
Image URL: A link to your high-res product photo.
Stock: Update this to "Out of Stock" to instantly disable the "Buy" button.
In the Store.link dashboard, you can match the Laid by Lema aesthetic:
Colors: Set your primary buttons to the Champagne Gold or Rich Charcoal from your site.
Domain: Your store will look like yourbrand.store.link, or you can connect a custom domain like shop.yourbrand.com.
This is the "She Designs Things" secret sauce. To make the two platforms feel like one:
Copy your Store.link URL (e.g., https://laidbylema64331.store.link/).
Go to your Google Sites editor.
Open the "Embed Shop" page.
Click "Add embed".
Paste your store URL.
Select "Whole Page"
Publish your website.
Pro Tip: You can also use the "Embed" feature in Google Sites to put the entire store directly onto your "Shop" page so the customer never feels like they are leaving your site.
Store.link is incredibly versatile for the salon industry. You have two main options for how you receive orders:
Direct Checkout (Stripe/PayPal): Connect your payment processor, and customers can pay securely via Credit Card.
WhatsApp Ordering: (Highly recommended for Custom Wigs!) When a customer clicks "Order," it sends a pre-filled message directly to your WhatsApp. This allows you to confirm lace shades or custom measurements before they pay.
Zero Learning Curve: You already know how to use Google Sheets.
Low Overhead: No expensive monthly e-commerce subscriptions.
Inventory on the Go: You can update your "Out of Stock" status from your phone by simply opening the Google Sheets app.
Professional Look: It maintains the high-fashion, minimalist look of your website template.
